“The Black student population at Cornell disproportionately represents international or first-generation African or Caribbean students,” BSU wrote. “While these students have a right to flourish at Cornell, there is a lack of investment in Black students whose families were affected directly by the African holocaust in America.”

That's not "not wanting" Africans and West Indians. That's wanting more black Americans.

Which is understandable, since American owes more to black Americans than it does to more recent black immigrants and their children.

Coon shit.

Here is the link to the actual demand letter from the Black student group......
https://legalinsurrection.com/wp-co...ell-Black-Students-United-List-of-Demands.pdf

"We demand that Cornell Admissions to come up with a plan to actively increase the presence of underrepresented Black students on this campus. We define underrepresented Black students as Black Americans who have several generations (more than two) in this country. The Black student population at Cornell disproportionately represents international or first-generation African or Caribbean students. While these students have a right to flourish at Cornell, there is a lack of investment in Black students whose families were affected directly by the African Holocaust in America. Cornell must work to actively support students whose families have been impacted for generations by white supremacy and American fascism."

Team black student's union! It's way past time for us to become exclusive vs inclusive. We should focus on self preservation. We are not in this together. Other cultures are using us as stepping stones.

Given the fact that many African immigrants and Caribbean immigrants look down upon black people, i don't have a problem with this.

But then again i do.

It's bad form. We look even more divided and publicly expose faults to be exploited by enemies and opportunists.

Due to the short sightedness of this particular demand i believe it was engineered by a black female.

This exists in your conscience?

Alot of Africans (not all) are condescending arrogant assholes that like to over simplify the American experience for blacks that were born here. They think we are lazy and don't look at the circumstances that we usually face. It's annoying as fuck

I never said they were lucky. But they were not victims of Slavery, Jim Crow, The Crack Epidemic, The consequent War on drugs, or any other American issues. These systems that exist, like Affirmative Action, are meant to correct American problems.

A lot of the lack of Black success in the US is a consequence of deliberate sabotage from White Americans. Creating policies meant to help Black Americans, and letting these resources go to international students, is just another way White Americans are impeding the growth of a stable Black American middle class.

they were victims of slavery don't get that twisted for a second. They were also victims of mass genocides and systematic racism. The grass wasn't greener on either side. This shit is just divisive.

You not even black so fuck your hot take.

Not American slavery on American soil where families were torn apart and people were robbed of their cultural identity, familial ties, language, and everything else they and their ancestors had ever known for centuries. Don't even try to play this "oh me too" game when you know damn well the differences are there and are clear as day.

My family is from the Caribbean but that doesn't mean I can't recognize that these social safety nets are being perverted.
