The problem with Carmelo is he's lost rank and he's playing in a system that doesn't fit his style. For people who play basketball, you know how frustrating it can be when dudes got you playing out of position. Your performance isn't nearly as efficient as it could be.
Not to mention the team has completely switched directions and Carmelo is no longer the number 1 guy. They actually run their offense through Lin (lol). Taking all of that into account, Carmelo isn't doing bad at all for the 2nd option. He put up 22pts, 9reb in 13 shots and 29 minutes, while Lin put up 14pts in 18 shots.
In brief, the owner needs to make up his mind. Do you want to win games or maximize profit? Because right now it looks like everyone has orders to defer to Lin. So of course they'll make their money, but the team will struggle to make the playoffs. Lin's game is not polished enough to start at PG. They should have seen this when Rondo got Oscar/Magic Johnson numbers on dude, and when Chalmers and Cole aka average PGs had him on lock.
P.S. Let's not act like your mental wouldn't be affected in some way after going through that bullshit they put Amare and Melo through. They're basically choosing a D-league level talent who had 2 weeks of good games over perennial all-stars who have proven themselves for damn near a decade. That shit is guaranteed to eat at anyone's mental.
