As Far as Hip-Hop Goes, Doesn't Gucci Mane Deserve a Lot More Respect Than He Already Does?

Gucci isn't a lyrical wizard but he has bangers/enjoyable songs, and in his prime a near immaculate flow, that>>>>>encyclopedia nonsense raps. He deserves SOME respect

Man he one of them where those who like his music fck with it. He got several songs I fck with. The fact some go out of their way to "hate" on him comes with the territory of who he is. For some reason he makes people get all salty and they seem to resent that he has had success . Looks like some jealousy too. And jokes its kinda a knee jerk thing...I dont know why but thats how some people act about him on the internet. But dude's great/genius level at what he does. I guess that makes some feel some type of way. Shrug I just listen to what I like I aint got time for all that worrying about who I "dont" personally. Its not really a "thing" in reality as I see it though.

What do you really think of Gucci Mane as a rapper and/or hip-hop figure? Is he a "legend"? If so, to what extent? If not, will he ever be?

I'm just curious, especially when I see IC niggas trash Gucci all the time and put him in the same category as Soulja Boy, which is ridiculous. I know niggas that trash Gucci yet have only listened to a few of his songs, which can be hit or miss imo.

If you don't like his style, I get it. But the nigga at least deserves some respect, right? I guess you could say that he's like E-40 in that regard?

His current legacy:

-Been independent and self-made from day one

-Put on ATL, from producers like Mike WIll Made It and Zaytoven to rappers like Future and Young Scooter

-Mass appeal beyond the South

-Put on others like Nicki Minaj

-Influenced a whole new crop of ATL rappers

-Not a studio gangster, certified street nigga

-Defended himself on wax against the likes of Jeezy, Game, etc.

-Average lyrics and subject matter, but good flow, humor, and unique style

-Prolific output of quality music, mixtapes and albums, street hits and pop hits

-With little major-label help, no albums have gone gold, but The State vs. Radric Davis is almost there and was number 10 on Billboard 200 chart

-Reached numer 36 on Billboard Hot 100

-Four top 20 albums on Billboard 200

He gets no respect for that

No what?

What are niggas saying no to?

Gucci don't deserve no respeck?

Yeah, I guess my question wasn't too clear. If any of you are saying that Gucci deserves no respect, then you're either trolling or hating. I just put up a gang of legitimate reasons why anyone who has respect for hip-hop needs to respect Gucci on some kind of level, whether streetwise, industry-wise , etc.

Exactly. It's not entirely obvious, but dude is very intelligent and creative. He's just crazy too, that's all. Then throw in the factor that he just doesn't give a fuck, a la Game. You niggas aint taking me seriously, but I'm telling you niggas, man.

Lol, I was debating on whether to add that. I don't like Nicki Minaj at all, but I respect her hustle. I just think that her style is super wack.

"HE'S A FUCKIN LEGEND"

"U NEED TO DO YO RESEARCH"

"HE'S SPIT WAY MORE GAME THAN (insert rapper i or someone else who dont like e-40 like)"

no the nigga garbitch, kill yoself.

and if u not liking gucci dont have to do with lyrics, then y the fuck u dont like him? i would think lyrics are a key part for most folks when determining a wack artist as compared to an artist thats "Just not for u". we can give credit to what he does besides lyrics, yall never even listened to bruh, u dont like bruh cuz some bafoons put him in a short buss shawty cartoon. foh
