I was there on a business trip in December Seems like a shitty little city, if you ask me. But I was only there for a week. But I'm from Atlanta so I can will say this: it's pretty bleak compared to home. Unless of course you're looking to slow down, stop and smell the roses.

i dont live there but its my second home.

its the fastest growing city im america...think of it like a smaller atlanta. young black professionals there. things are newer, time warner cable arena. still doing construction uptown(downtown).

i live 2 hours away in raleigh..but im planning on moving to the QC by the end of the year.

My first impression too - looked kind of boring compared to Atlanta but I figured that's because I don't know the spots. Just on some work shit though, looked like a real slow place.

I went to the uptown area, I kept calling that shit downtown too. In your opinion was the best place to live in Charlotte ?

not too familiar with the areas to live...i know a few people who live north charlotte up by UNC Charlotte/harris blvd area. my brother had a crib over off of independence blvd which is near downtown...that shit was nice over there.
i think theres a part of south charlotte thats real upscale n shit. maybe someone else can help u with that.

but based off where ive been, id live either uptown (if i can afford it when the time comes) or north charlotte

I been staying here since 04.. not really the clubbin type so i couldnt tell you too much about that. But it is alot of shit to do here.. it is not a boring city more like a "laid back" type of environment. I suppose it would be boring if youre into the fast life or whatnot. It is a smaller atl it really aint much of a difference. As far as jobs, i think its decent considering the job market is fucked up everywhere. You shouldnt have a huge prob finding a 9-5, now actually finding some stability is a diff story if you dont know anybody. If you have a nice ass car, some rims on ya shit or something.. get you a hell of a security system!! Niggaz break in ya shit more than anything up here. Northside/Harris blvd is a nice area to live in. Westside is the gutta, although it is nice spots on the westside too which is where i live. If your money right tho go for uptown. All in all you should give it a try.. its a reason why everybody and they mama is moving here these days..

c/s everyone who said the area is really chill. It is recognizably slower than a city like ATL especially in the surrounding areas outside of the city. It can get annoying at times if you're trying to get somewhere and it seems like everyone is taking a Sunday drive. Like someone said, the city is growing rapidly especially in the banking and financial industries. It's a great time to get your foot in the door career wise. I stay about 25-30 min from the Harris blvd area in the burbs and it's quiet and affordable. Crime is relatively low but you do have the usual gully areas.

For some reason there's a bunch of NY niggas that move here and a large community of fresh off the boat Latinos. Dunno if that bothers you but it's just a small thing that grabs people attention when they first move here.

currently I'm living in Raleigh, which is way laid back compared to Charlotte ... but if you're looking for a place that has a laid back appearance with lot's of stuff to do once you scratch the surface ... then it's a nice move. I work in the banking industry so I didn't have trouble finding a job ... but contrarily it is all still new to me cause I'm from New Orleans and nothing compares to home.
