What's the hate for this game?

Probably because Bungie ditched Halo to essentially go make a reskinned Halo. As much as gamers claim they want innovation, we're some of the most pigeonholing fuckers on the planet.

Looks like Halo meets Borderlands meets Mass Effect.

I dunno if that's really even a bad thing, but...that's what it looks like.

Shit is eerily similar to Halo. $500 million dollars though. Sheesh. They banking on this shit to be as big as Halo. Not going to happen. Halo has a Cult following. I may give it a try I may not. Haven't really been into Halo since 2. I buy them but lose interest in it fast.

That's all they want you to do.

$500 million investment is still too much for one game. Not even Microsoft will go that far. Especially a new IP. There is confidence and then there is stupidity IMO. It also enables a shitty trend the rising cost of markerting/production in the game industry. The movement that is gonna put a lot of publishers out of business by the time this gen ends if it keeps on. It does all that while setting a new precedent on how to further raise the bar in overspending. They could invest that money in 6 other games that could bring back more of a profit.

They better hope and pray to Jesus, Santa Claus, Allah and whoever else that the game catches on like it needs to & ships and sells millions upon millions of copies across all platforms because this could potentially end up being a huge financial disaster for them.

The $500 mil is an investment in the franchise. They trying to make this something everyone wants if it works buy the end of the gen it will easily pay off for them.

Yea, that $500 million is development, production, marketing, packaging, infrastructure support and royalties for the next decade...assuming a trilogy. Really not that much. Call of Duty alone makes more than that in its first week. Not saying Destiny will, but Activision can definitely afford it.
