2016 The Year In Review

Fuck 2016. Three days into 2017, damn already fucked up. Cant wait for 2018 in hip hop fam. Its gonna be our year!

Spent most of the year thinking shit was kinda weak as far as hip hop goes. Then ATCQ, Cole, RTJ, Ab Soul, TI came through to save the day at the last minute.

Also Dave East proved he's really got next. Hate Me Now mixtape in 2015 was aight and showed potential but I still didn't really see the hype. Kairi Chanel solidified it for me. Dudes got flow, storytelling, bangers, hot production. I was listening Kairi Chanel today thinking, if this ain't his debut album (it's not, right?), I wonder if the album will be better because this shit is pretty fire.

I agree but at the same time his album had a lot of 1 verse song that were only like 2mins. Felt unfinished to me.

But that Cole was forgettable as hell

Tribe coming back. Gucci getting out.. Quavo killing shit. 21 Savage, Uzi and Kodak being fresh new rappers. Drake running the radio and clubs again. K Dot with the surprise heat.. Meek Mill making a pretty strong comeback. Kanye' good music and confusing antics. Travis Scott continued growth artistically. Chance reaching wide audience. DJ Khaled monster year. Dave East steady building his name.. De La Soul new album.. 2016 was a real good year.

Yea he always had his core fanbase but he def evolved as an artist.

You cant say ppl "jumped on his bandwagon" when what he did in 2016 was completly different than anything he did before. This album is like nothing else in his catalog.
