Everready: The Religion is my favorite. All 6's and 7's would be an alright introduction (and features Weezy). Absolute Power too (though it's old) and Killer (though it's a double album and has too much filler).
Stay away from the three "collabos" albums or the two "dark" albums (K.O.D. and...
I'm pretty sure the only way you can get a physical copy of the Kendrick Lamar is through the TDE website.
I snatched it when it was $10...a couple days later they raised it to $15. :)
It's hit or miss. When it hits, it hits well and the good outweighs the bad.
The bad songs suffer from bad/annoying hooks or sound too forced (see "Boomerang" and the song with Christ Brown)
If you're a fan of the west, definitely cop.
This and Killer Mike are the only two 2011 releases on my "to-get" list that I haven't found for the right price (read: used and/or under $8...I'm cheap)
Indie purchases bought this year...
Blueprint - Adventures in Counter Culture
Pharoahe - WAR
Tech N9ne - 6's 7's
Jay Rock - Follow Me...
Part of my reluctance to make the switch to vinyl is the feeling of investment I've put into CDs. I'm not an audiophile. My wife makes remarks about the space my CDs take up (and I don't even have them in jewel cases...see my post earlier in this thread!) so I can't imagine where I'd put CDs...
nah. there are TWO record stores in the city where I live and the vinyl selection is pretty limited in both.
If I lived in a city that was bigger than 100k people I'd have probably amassed a collection of vinyl the same size as my CD collection by now. Meh.
Hardly.
95% were bought used and I've never paid more than $7.99 for a used CD. These days it's a rarity for me to pay more than $3. It's all about hitting up eBay, pawn shops and scouring the clearance bins at stores (I try to go to one every time I'm in a new city).
From 03-07/08 I used to...
I used to do CD books too. Had one of those 400 page books almost filled.Talk about difficult searching for what you want to hear! I couldn't handle that kind of disorganization. Now I just "check out" a few CDs at a time from my own personal library and take them with me in the car. haha
It's not too bad. If I have a lot of CDs by groups/artists that start with one letter I end up thumbing through them for a second or two, but it's never any trouble. Goes alon with having a collection I guess.
Here's a full running list of all my CDs. Approaching 1,400.

Whenever I get a new CD I put the booklet and CD in a double-sided vinyl sleeve, then put the sleeve on my CD shelf (in alphabetical order). I put the CD tray liner or digipack in a box...
thanks! I actually have a rip of the mp3. I don't know if it's just the quality of the recording, the vinyl or the quality of the rip (I've obviously never heard it first-hand), but they all sound pretty terrible. So, any time I find someone who has it, I have to ask if they have another rip.
